What is the Dress Code at Wilderwood Camps?

At Wilderwood Camps, we want every camper to feel comfortable, safe, and ready for a day full of adventure. Our dress code is designed to ensure safety, practicality, and camp spirit throughout all activities.

What Should Campers Wear?

  • Camp Shirt:
Camp shirts are required every day at Wilderwood Camps. Wearing the camp shirt helps us easily identify campers and creates a sense of community and unity. Each camper will receive their shirt at the start of their session. Additional shirts are available for purchase if needed.

  • Comfortable, Weather-Appropriate Clothing:
Pair the camp shirt with shorts, athletic pants, or other comfortable bottoms suitable for outdoor play and weather conditions.

  • Closed-Toe Shoes:
To keep campers safe during activities, they must wear closed-toe shoes, such as sneakers or hiking boots. Sandals, flip-flops, or open-toe shoes are not allowed.

Additional Recommendations:

  • Layering for Weather:
On cooler days, campers should bring a jacket or sweater that can easily be removed as the day warms up.

  • Water Activities:
For days with water-based activities, campers should pack a swimsuit, towel, and water shoes. These can be worn under their camp shirt when necessary.

  • Messy Play:
For activities that might get messy, like crafts or mud play, a change of clothes is recommended.

What Not to Wear:

To ensure safety and comfort, campers should avoid:

  • Jewelry or accessories that could get lost or pose safety hazards.

  • Clothing with inappropriate language, graphics, or themes.

Why Camp Shirts Every Day?

Requiring camp shirts daily helps us:

  • Ensure Safety: Staff can quickly identify campers during activities and transitions.

  • Promote Unity: The camp shirt fosters a sense of belonging and team spirit.

  • Streamline Preparation: Parents don’t have to worry about choosing outfits every morning!

If you have questions about the dress code or need additional camp shirts, feel free to contact us.

Let’s get outside, stay outside, and play outside—in style and ready for adventure!
